Orba Squara's Song You Didn't Know You Knew.

-->
One-man mainstream folk music has taken over your brain and you don't even know it. Every so often an obscure song emerges from the pile of corporate wreckage currently available on the radio. You may not have visited Orba Squara's website but the chance's you have heard his song as the latest Apple jingle are pretty good.

Just as the White Stripes singing "Were going to be friends" will always be etched into your memory because of Napoleon Dynamite, the Apple iPhone Commercial is having a similar effect. The one man band Orba Squara's relaxing instrumental "Perfect Timing" is that jingle that sounds just that: jingly.

Who would have thought that Apple's ubermodern appeal could be based on a song from a deeply philosophical folk singer/songwriter Mitch Davis? Recently spending time in Japan tinkering with sounds of "old guitars" and currently on a tour that takes him from New York to Oregon by land, Davis is not your typical folk rock musician.

Wonderful new sounds come from experimenting with different instruments. The selection of Orba Squara's tune for the Apple iPhone commercial was the perfect lullaby. It's practically impossible to see that commercial and not feel completely comfortable between the easy use of the phone and "Perfect Timing" jingling along. And even though Apple doesn't use any of Davis's lyrics, they are extremely well written and sung as an array of perfectly high-pitched feel good folk rock songs. I definitely recommend checking out his songs with the lyrics included.
